Recently, the second working meeting of the drafting group of the press and publishing industry standard Printing Technology - Engraving Printing Technology was held in Xinxiang, Henan Province. After this meeting, the drafting of the national industrial standard for block printing has been basically completed. A draft for comments will be issued in June, and the "national standard" for block printing will be officially promulgated.　　

     Engraving printing technology has experienced more than 1300 years of development, and Guangling Ancient Books Engraving Society is the unit that inherits the complete technology. In September 2009, the "Chinese woodblock printing skills" declared by Guangling Ancient Books Engraving Society was successfully included in the UNESCO "Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Human Beings". In order to better preserve, protect, inherit and disseminate this technology, the industry standards of Yangzhou City and Jiangsu Province for this technology were formulated and promulgated in 2011 and 2012 respectively.　　

     In April 2015, the establishment meeting of the press and publication industry standard drafting group for Printing Technology - Engraving Printing Technology was held in Yangzhou. At the meeting, it was determined that Yangzhou Guangling Ancient Books Engraving Society, Suzhou Taohuawu Woodcut New Year Painting Society and Shenzhen Vocational and Technical College were the drafting units, and Yangzhou Guangling Ancient Books Engraving Society was the lead author and the drafting group leader.

     Yesterday, more than 10 experts and scholars from the National Technical Committee for Printing Standardization, Yangzhou City, Guangling Ancient Books Engraving Society, Suzhou Taohuawu Wood Carving New Year Painting Society and other units attended the second working meeting of the drafting group to discuss in depth the process and operation specifications of block printing technology, and strive to solidify the "intangible cultural heritage" technology taught by word of mouth and heart with words, so as to achieve the goal of widespread transmission.

     It is reported that at present, there is no industry standard for "intangible cultural heritage" projects in China, and these endangered skills are passed on through oral and heart teaching. It is difficult to express professional skills and production methods in words, so it is difficult to formulate this standard. The masters, scholars and experts led by Chen Yishi, a master of engraving, used innovative thinking to draft standards and make breakthroughs within the framework of standard formulation. After a year of drafting, the drafting of the "National Standard" for woodblock printing was basically completed after this meeting. The draft for comments will be released in June, and the official promulgation is just around the corner.

      Ma Zhiyong, secretary of the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee and engineer, introduced that the standard formulation is of breakthrough significance and will also become a model standard for "intangible cultural heritage" projects. The formulation of this standard may set a precedent for the standardization of "intangible cultural heritage" and broaden the connotation and extension of the standardization field. "The promulgation of the national industry standards will be conducive to the inheritance and protection of the original flavor, boost the development of the cultural industry, and even make the intangible cultural heritage of block printing technology occupy a new high place in the world."
